Video Games Consoles Guide
Video game consoles have redefined entertainment in millions of British homes. Technology, comfort, aesthetics and price tags, all dictate consumer choices for video game consoles. You have never had more choices than today in the whole history of video gaming. With choices comes confusion and this guide takes you through the maze to the perfect video game console.
The market for video game consoles today is ruled by three names: the Sony PlayStation 2, the Microsoft Xbox, and the Nintendo GameCube. They are all big game systems and all have acquired an almost even reputation. While choices may vary from person to person, we would like to tell you that you could not go wrong with any of them. All the three video game consoles are very good!
Sony PlayStation 2
Popularly known as PS2, Sony's PlayStation 2 is the first among equals. It has the enviable record of maximum sales and maximum number of games available. An added advantage is that it can play both DVD’s and PlayStation 1 games. The flipside is that because of being the oldest, its sound and graphics are inferior to the latest Xbox and GameCube. The latter support four players, while PS2 can only support two players.
Microsoft Xbox
On the upside, the Xbox offers the best graphics, surround sound, built in hard drive, built in network support, and DVD playback. It can support up to 16 players with four more boxes that are easily linked to the main video game console. Even on its own, it can support four players, double than PS2. However, you have the least number of options as far as games are concerned. The original video game console is not the most compact, but there are smaller ones available.
Nintendo GameCube
The GameCube offers games like Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, and Star Fox Adventures that are very popular among the juniors. It has the best sound and graphics but does not play DVD movies.
Tip: The selection of a video game console should be based on games, price, graphics and sound support.
