Cathode Ray Televisions are the traditional and the cheapest variety of television sets available and in the price range of £75 to £3500. These sets are now available in wide range of flat screen and wide screen options. These TV sets display very bright and sharp pictures. However, the limitations of this TV type are; bulkiness, heaviness and they have the maximum screen size of 40”.
Rear Projection TVs are the alternatives to CRT TV of larger screen TV of 40” and beyond. These TVs are available in the range of £1000 to £3500 and are comparatively slimmer than the Cathode Ray models. These types of TV’s suffer from the possibility of screen burn at high brightness levels, low picture quality and poor contrast levels. LCD Rear Projection TVs are available in the range of £1500 to £5000 and give a brighter and crisper picture than the Rear Projection TVs.
Projectors were available for only for the cinemas and rich, however now the budget projectors are available in the range of £1,000 to £25,000. The projectors offer good cinematic quality pictures but they need a separate screen and a large space.
Plasma Telvisions are the latest TVs available in the market and are very thin and lightweight. They offer very crisp and clear pictures and have perfectly flat screen. The Plasma TVs are very expensive and are available in the range of £3,000 to £10,000. The plasmas also suffer from poor black levels and they lack details in the darker areas.
Tip: Buy a TV that has the features that are necessary and fit into your budget and not go in for TV that has a lot of expensive frills that have little utility for you.
