Irons Guide
Iron is one of the oldest yet the most important home appliance. They are a part of every household and are necessary for providing the much in demand crisp finish to your clothing and linen. This guide will help you chose the one that would provide a decent finish to your laundry well within your budget.
Dry Iron is the traditional model and of course the simplest one to operate. This iron has a simple plug and use feature wherein you just have to adjust the temperature knob according to the texture of the fabric you need to straighten up. Spray Irons are a step ahead of the simple irons and they spray a fine shower of water on the cloth for easy and comfortable ironing.
Steam and spray irons use a combination of steam and water spray for the better quality ironing and removing the wrinkles from even the bone-dry clothes. Steam iron provides an impeccable laundry look to your clothing. Spray shot irons are advancement over the steam irons and they release a blast of steam over the cloth for comfortable ironing of the coarse and tough fabric like denim and linen.
The irons with the aluminum plates are the most basic ones. The plate after some usage gets sticky and it might cause wrinkles over the fabric. Coated nonstick plates are better because they provide as smooth glide over the fabric.
The irons with a stainless steel plate not only provide a smooth glide but also have an even distribution of heat all over the plate, which facilitates faster ironing. However, the steel plate might get scratched if care is not taken to avoid buttons, zippers, studs etc. Ceramic sole plates are better than the stainless steel ones and have a nonstick surface that distributes the heat evenly.
Be careful to buy an iron with anti scaling measures if you are buying a model that uses spray/steam technology. Some irons are available with inbuilt water filtration devices to avoid scaling.
Tip: Buy an iron that has a non-stick sole plate with even distribution of heat and avoids deposit of lime scales.
