Computer Mouse Guide
What was life like before the computer mouse? Sounds like a throwback to a remote past. Well, computer mouse has redefined the way we use our PC’s and a wrong one can make your PC experience both testing and time-consuming. Here is your guide to select the right one:
Plug it in:
Make sure the plug of your computer mouse is compatible with the port at the back of your PC case. PS./2 is the most common version.
Size it right:
If you have short fingers, buy a small computer mouse. Typically, you should be able to reach the buttons on your computer mouse without extending your fingers. If you are not able to rest your wrist on the table while using a mouse, repetitive strain injury is on the cards.
The perfect type:
You have many options to choose from ranging from the conventional roller-ball computer mouse to the sophisticated optical mouse and the hassle-fee cordless mouse. If you do not want to spend much and are happy with a no-frills mouse, a roller-mouse is your pick. The cord is not such a problem! The accuracy of a mouse is measured in dpi- dots per inch. The higher the number, the better is your mouse equipped to read your movements on the screen.
Easy scroll:
The purpose of a scroll wheel in the middle of your computer mouse is to scroll on a document without pointing to the cursor on the right of your screen. If you deal with a lot of lengthy documents, a scroll wheel is a must-have.
Clear the dust:
Do not go rushing for a new computer with the slightest indication of uneven movement on the screen. It may be just the dust!
Alternatives?
A trackball has is an upside-down computer mouse. It has a ball as a pointing device. Another option is a mouse-pen, popular with people who have problems with CTS.
Tip: Go for a computer mouse with the highest dpi- dots per second for greater accuracy and if you have any special needs, make sure your mouse fulfills them.
