Bedroom Furniture Guide
Bedroom furniture decides the ambience of the room where you look for most comfort. Bedroom furniture should be elegant, comfy and unmistakably you! This guide helps you get it right:
The bed is the most important component of your bedroom furniture. But it’s no more the focal point of your bedroom. There are things like wardrobes, bookshelves and computers to accommodate as well! While the choices may be limited vis-à-vis size, try to get the best available one. Go through all home décor magazines, furniture stores, friends’ bedrooms, to find the perfect bed. Don’t hesitate to get one made according to the exact size of your room, if that’s a financially viable option.
Dressers are the part of your bedroom furniture where most of your good, bad and ugly stuff is kept. Your choice of a dresser would depend on two things: whether you prefer fewer large drawers or many small ones, and the size of your room. The smallest dressers are called ‘drawer dressers’ as drawers are all you can see there. The largest ones are called ‘door dressers’. These have a door to conceal the pullout trays inside. The nightstands, too, are limited to these two options. Make sure your dresser and night stand matches with the rest of your bedroom furniture.
The chest is the most versatile component of your bedroom furniture. You can no more make a choice based on the ‘look’. A chest today should not only accommodate your lingerie and shoes, but your stereo, laptop, and in some cases, your television set as well! Your options are: lingerie chest, drawer chest, door chest and wardrobe or armoire.
Mirrors are as indispensable as beds in your bedroom furniture. The most important factor while selecting a mirror is the size of your dresser, if you plan to put it on the dresser! The most common mirror is the Single Mirror. This is used over the drawer dresser. Then there is the Tri-Mirror that consists of three hinged adjustable sections. This is the largest among all mirrors and is usually mounted on a door dresser.
Tip: Space, utility and aesthetic sense dictates the choice of bedroom furniture. Make sure your bed, dresser, nightstand, chest and mirror are well matched.
